Musicians: more important than you think

“Music has a way of finding the big, invisible moving pieces inside our hearts and souls and helping us figure out the position of things inside us.”

This welcome address from the Boston Conservatory rings so true to me…

Sometimes, I wish I had majored in music… I really miss playing seriously. The further I go in scientific education, the more I recognize how unnatural it is for me, and how much more I lean towards the arts. Whenever I talk with fellow musicians/artsy people about music/art, a big part inside me livens, brightens. It’s such an instinctive part of me. But science, though interesting, is only something that I like doing, but it’s not my passion. Perhaps it’s good though, that I challenge myself in an area that takes more work and effort. Work both sides of the brain, as they say…
