base ingratitude

It seems these days that university students have no knowledge of social etiquette or manners. Especially when it comes to bussing. Countless times I’ve seen students running for the bus as the bus starts to pull away, and the bus driver, out of his/her own kindness, stops and waits for them to catch up and get on. You’d think there’d be some expression of gratitude. Nope. Just a flash of the student card (bus pass) and walking on to the back of the bus. No “Thank you!!” for waiting for them. The driver could just as well have kept on driving and left you to wait for the next bus. And you have no gratitude for them getting you to class/lab/exam on time. Something’s wrong here.
